No flower market today N2 (The imperfect perfect), oil on canvas, 18x24x2 cm, unframed

When I realised that the paintings that were going to the exhibition in Subtile Gallery in Luxembourg weren’t going to be framed (I’ll tell that story one day), I nearly panicked. I had 4 paintings in that group show, 2 of which were fine to hand as it is because they were on stretched canvas. But I had to do something about the two small paintings that couldn’t exhibit without a frame because they were on card! So I sat down and painted one of them with the same setup but on canvas. It would have to go on the wall wet. That was a great exercise in acceptance, of being fine with the imperfect.

In the end, I ended up exhibiting (and selling!) the first painting, but I still have this second one as a reminder that not everything will go well and it’s okay.
